Emma Neutzler

Emma Meyer Neutzler was born April 2, 1912, in the Prairie Hill community of Washington County, TX, the daughter of William and Emma Schulte Meyer. She was baptized on May 26, 1912, at Prairie Hill by Pastor Apfelbach and was confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Greenvine on April 10, 1927 by Pastor Ziehe. Mrs. Neutzler was educated at Greenvine School. On Nov. 27, 1938, she was married to Perry Neutzler. They lived in Carmine from 1938 until 1952, when they moved to Brenham. Mrs. Neutzler was a member of Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church in Berlin, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. She loved to sew and cook. Mrs. Neutzler died Sept. 6, 2004, at home. She was 92. She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry; one daughter, Doris Mae; her parents; son-in-law, Jerry Ahrens; two sisters; three brothers, numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and one nephew. She is survived by sons, Valgene Neutzler and wife Carolyn of Navasota and Glenn Neutzler and wife Jane of Brenham; daughters, Arlene Ahrens and Dina Weiss, both of Brenham; grandchildren, Michael and Teresa Neutzler of Bryan, Marc and Kay Neutzler of Navasota, Duane Ahrens, Sara Weiss, Kelly Weiss, Kyle Neutzler and Cody Neutzler, all of Brenham; great-grandchildren, Brent Neutzler, Kristen Neutzler, Kourtney Neutzler, Kallie Neutzler; her adopted family, Sonny and Monica Salgado, Paola and Jerry Lee; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Velma and Eddie Penkert of Burton, Elvira Tudy Schmidt of Burton and Evelyn Neutzler of Brenham, Erna Mae Neutzler of Somerville, Elmer and Lillie Neutzler of Brenham, Oran Neutzler of Burton and Wilburn Neutzler of Brenham; and special friend, Carol Lanford. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9 in Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church in Berlin with Pastor Teresa Davis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Michael Neutzler, Marc Neutzler, Duane Ahrens, Sara Weiss, Kyle Neutzler, Kelly Weiss, Cody Neutzler and Sonny Salgado. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews: Nelson Neutzler, Delbert Schmidt, Jack Schramm, Earl Neutzler, Lloyd Neutzler and Curtis Wendler. Memorials may be given to Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church in Berlin. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
