Erich Jaster

Erich F. Jaster, 79, of Brenham, died Nov. 15, 2004, at his residence. Mr. Jaster was born April 16, 1925, in Washington County, Texas, to Erich G. and Annie Oevermann Jaster. He was baptized in St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton and was confirmed in Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Greenvine. Mr. Jaster was educated at Klump School and Blinn College and served in the Army during World War II. On August 3, 1947, he was married to Pauline Broesche in St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton by Pastor Schwengel. Mr. Jaster was a member of Burton American Legion Post 242, Brenham VFW Post 7104 and the Brenham Cubettes Softball Alumni Association. He was active in church committees at St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham. Mr. Jaster was a retired driver, route supervisor and territorial manager at Blue Bell Creameries. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Jaster of Brenham; son, Aubrey Jaster and wife Bev of Brenham; daughters, Darleen Koehne of Brenham and Joyce Knittel and husband Rockie of Brenham; eight grandchildren, Rockie, Jarred and Trey Knittel, Hilliary Jaster and fiancé Derek Poehlmann, Laura Jaster, Steven Koehne, Kendra Koehne and Kyree and Shane Kloecker; one great-granddaughter, Katelyn Koehne; brothers, Clarence Jaster and wife Jenell of Round Top and Elwood Jaster and wife Carol of Brenham; sister, Olevia Gaskamp of Brenham; sister-in-law, Ruth Jaster of Houston and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Franklin and Anne Broesche of Eagle Lake; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Melvin; son-in-law, Gilbert Koehne; and brother-in-law, Ervin Gaskamp. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17 in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastor Lawrence Bade and Pastor Kim Little-Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be Steven Koehne, Rockie B. Knittel, Jarred Knittel, Trey Knittel, Shane Kloecker, Derek Poehlmann and Justin Schiller. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Kendra Koehne, Kyree Kloecker, Hilliary Jaster and Laura Jaster; great-granddaughter, Katelyn Koehne and past and present employees of Blue Bell Creameries. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham, 979-836-4564.
