Erna Arndt

Erna Rosenbaum Arndt, 89, of Brenham, died May 11, 2009, at Trinity Care Center in Brenham. Mrs. Arndt was born March 31, 1920, in the Gay Hill community of Washington County, Texas, to Fritz and Meta Duesterhoft Rosenbaum. She was baptized June 13, 1920, in Friedens United Church of Christ of Gay Hill and was confirmed September 30, 1934, in the same church. Mrs. Arndt was educated at Gay Hill School. On March 16, 1940, she was married to Willie Arndt in Friedens United Church of Christ of Gay Hill. Mrs. Arndt was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Peter s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill, where she was a member of the Women of the ELCA. She was a social member of the Gay Hill Sons of Hermann Lodge #193 and the Gay Hill-Mound Hill-Cedar Hill Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Delores and Berry Goldberg of Burton; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Arndt of Spring. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Arndt; her parents; and her granddaughter, Lisa Lynn Goldberg. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 14 at St. Peter s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill with Pastor Alan Kethan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Melvin J. Arndt, Marvin Lee Fischer, Bradley Fischer, Scotty Luetge, Milton Haack and Wade Jurries. Memorials may be given to St. Peter s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill or to Hospice.
