Erna Brewer

Erna Seidel Brewer, 92, widow of Steve Brewer, died January 2, 2010 in Longview Regional Hospital. Born in Brenham, Texas to Ernest and Mattie Green Seidel on November 6, 1917, Erna was baptized March 17, 1918 in St. Paul''s Lutheran Church by Rev. E. A. Sagebiel. On April 10, 1932, she was confirmed in St. Paul''s Lutheran Church by Rev. Arthur Hartmann, and on September 10, 1939, she was married to Stephen William Brewer, also in St. Paul''s, by Rev. Theo R. Streng. Mrs. Brewer was a homemaker. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, James and Becky Brewer of Houston, and Travis and Claudene Brewer of Beaumont; daughter and son-in-law Carolyn and Algene Jaster of Longview; grandchildren: Jodi and David Bachtell, Jeana and Wayne Walker, Angela Brewer, and David Brewer; great-grandchildren Tyler and Nathan Bachtell, and a sister-in-law, Hattie Seidel of Brenham. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Steve Brewer on May 15, 1998, and brothers Lorenz, Arnold, and Ernest Seidel. Funeral services for Erna Seidel Brewer will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pastors Lawrence Bade and Phillip Fenton will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Monday evening. Serving as pallbearers are Don Jones, Dave Flowers, Maxwell Weidner, Greg Bridges, Douglas Heckman, and Kenneth Mueller. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul''s Lutheran Church of Brenham.
