Erna Hahn

Erna Elvira Stroech Hahn, 78, of Brenham, died Aug. 25, 2003, in Brenham Rest Home. Mrs. Hahn was born May 14, 1925, in Greenvine community of Washington County, Texas, to Herman and Emma Jaster Stroech. She was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Greenvine and was confirmed April 2, 1939 in the same church. On May 12, 1946, she married Ben Hahn in Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Greenvine. Mrs. Hahn was a member of Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church in Berlin, where she was a member of the Women of the Church and sang in the choir. She worked for 53 years in the floral business, starting at Schubert s in 1947. In 1975, she began at Weghorst Floral, which later became Brenham Floral. She retired in March, 2000. Survivors include her sisters and brothers-in-law, Esther and Walter J. Lueck of Brenham and Teckla and Gus Rust of Brenham; brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Louise Stroech of Brenham; sister-in-law, Lorene Hahn of Brenham and Anita Stroech of Bryan; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Hahn, on Jan. 25, 1996; parents, Herman and Emma Stroech; brother, William Stroech; sister, Hulda Kluck; brother-in-law, Herbert G. Kluck; nephews, Herbert F. Kluck and Wayne Kluck; and niece, Glenda Rust. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27 in Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church in Berlin with Pastor Teresa Davis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26. Her nephews and great-nephews will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be given to Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church in Berlin or the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
