Erna Weckwerth

Erna Weckwerth, 92, of Brenham, died Jan. 19, 2007, at Brenham Rest Home in Brenham. Mrs. Weckwerth was born Dec. 28, 1914, in the Klump community of Washington County, Texas, to Kurt and Alma Franke Zwahr. She was educated at Klump School. On Dec. 22, 1931, she was married to Henry Neumann, Sr. Mr. Neumann preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 1938. On Sept. 8, 1940, she was married to Erwin Weckwerth. Mr. Weckwerth preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 1971. Mrs. Weckwerth enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and sewing. She liked to dance and listen to country music. Mrs. Weckwerth loved family parties, reunions and visiting with all her brothers, sisters, children and grandchildren. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Kathy Weckwerth of Henry, Illinois; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mildred Zbranek of Burton and Marie and Jimmy Loewe of Carmine; 15 grandchildren, Doris and Hank Case, JoAnn and Mark Campbell, Roy Neumann, Abby Neumann and fiancé Larry Birkelbach, Genna and Ryan Roeske, Donna and Brian Pieper, Troy Zbranek and special friend Jennifer Davis, Jamie and Mark Odom II, Joanie Loewe and fiancé Steven Wright, Timothy and Jill Weckwerth, Heidi and Mike Theriault, Holly and John Fahey and Michele and Greg Bricker; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bruno and Annell Zwahr of Brenham and Alvin Zwahr of Needville; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ella Flentge of Marlin and Elsie and Jim Jine of Needville. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Henry Neumann, Jr.; granddaughter, Rebecca Neumann; grandson, Todd Zbranek; son-in-law, Leroy Zbranek; and four brothers. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21 at Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin with Pastor Teresa Davis officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Pallbearers will be Roy Henry Neumann, Royce Neumann, Troy Zbranek, Wayne Meyer, Neal Lampe and Clint Lampe. Memorials may be given to Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin.
