Erwin Giese, 88, of Brenham, passed away May 18, 2008 in Trinity Care Center in Brenham.
Mr. Giese was born October 17, 1919 to John and Jessie Lanford Giese. He was educated in Brenham public school, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was retired from Brentex Mills after 40 years of service, and was a member of the Buddy Wright Post #48 of the American Legion, as well as the James F. Dillon Post #7104 of the VFW. Mr. Giese was a member of First Christian Church of Brenham.
Survivors include sisters-in-law Viola Giese of Brenham and Natalie Giese of Burton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Ruby and Elton Jochen of La Grange, and Muriel and J. W. Lueders of Bastrop; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Willie and Rose Unger of La Grange; a niece and nephews, as well as special companion and friend, Johnnie Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Byler Giese; brothers John L. Giese, Marvin Giese, and J. F. Giese and sisters Pearl Hermsdorfer and Edna Pankonien.
Funeral services for Erwin Giese will be held Wednesday, May 21 at 5:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday preceding the funeral service. Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at La Grange City Cemetery in La Grange.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are his nephews: James Giese, Charles Giese, Wayne Giese and Howard Giese, as well as all members of VFW Post #7104. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Medical Center in Brenham.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
