Esther Lydia Herzog, 81, of Brenham, died October 9, 2010 in The Care Center. Esther was born in Fairbanks, Texas on March 1, 1929 to John Henry and Minnie Augusta Spitzer Lehmann. She was employed for 35 years by AT&T in Brenham and Houston. Esther attended Advent Lutheran Church in Houston. Survivors include a son, Mark Herzog of College Station; daughter, Debbie Herzog of Houston; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Ann Lehmann; sisters, Ruth Wehmeyer and Evelyn Reue, all of Brenham; sister-in-law, Willie Mae Reeves; and special niece and friend, Betty and Woody Wolfenberger. Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Minnie Lehmann, brother Walter Lehmann, and sister, Hildegard Wieghat. Graveside services for Esther Lydia Herzog will be held at Prairie Lea Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14 with Pastor Larry Beck officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13. Serving as honorary pallbearers are nieces and nephews: Carol Sue Arthur, Marcella Bennett, Barbara Eldridge, Beverly Grace, Becky Graeber, Sherri Holden, Peggy Hooker, David Lehmann, Kevin Lehmann, Nolan Lehmann, Shelly Lehmann, Tammy Lehmann, Linda Pieper, Richard Reeves, James Reue, Darrell Wehmeyer, and Betty Wolfenberger. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley or to a favorite charity. Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main, Brenham, is in charge of arrangements.
