Esther Kieke

Esther Louise Kieke, 97, of Brenham, passed away October 27, 2011 in Bluebonnet Hills Care Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville, with Pastor Phillip Fenton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Esther Kieke was born February 14, 1914 in Zionsville to Otto F. and Meta Neinast Kieke. She attended public schools in Washington County, and was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville, as well as an active member of the Bluebonnet Club. For many years, Esther worked as a waitress in several local restaurants. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and embroidering. She took great pride in making Maifest and Halloween costumes for relatives and friends. Survivors include her sister, Viola Giese; brother Fred Kieke and wife Ernestine, all of Brenham, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Preceding her in death were sisters Tillie Borchardt, Lillie Newsom, and Elda Burch, as well as her brothers, Alvin Kieke and V. C. Kieke. Serving as pallbearers are Bennie Emshoff, Melvin Fred Kieke, Douglas Borchardt, Donald Gene Winkelmann, Edgar Schwartz, James Giese, Charles Giese, and Wayne Giese. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Bluebonnet Club. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W.
