Esther Elsie Lueck, 86, widow of Walter J. Lueck, of Brenham, passed away June 2, 2008 in Ft. Bend Health Care Center in Rosenberg, Texas. Mrs. Lueck was born February 6, 1922 to Herman August and Emma Jaster Stroech in Greenvine, Texas. She was baptized and confirmed in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine, and married Walter J. Lueck there on August 10, 1941. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2006. Mrs. Lueck was a member of Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin, where she was involved in the ELCA. She worked as a seamstress for Maddox Furniture, and later was employed by Fabric Care/Classic Care Service of Brenham. She loved raising a variety of pot plants and hanging baskets. Survivors include a son, Walter Lueck and wife Mary Ann of Richmond; grandchildren David Lueck of Richmond; Julie Lueck and husband Jeff Pokorak of Boston, Mass., and grandson August Pokorak; sisters-in-law Mary Lueck of Houston and Anita Stroech of Bryan; sister and brother-in-law Teckla Rust and husband Gus of Brenham. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, two sisters Hulda Kluck and Erna Hahn, and brothers William Stroech and Herman Stroech, Jr. Funeral services for Esther Elsie Lueck will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 in Eben Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin, with Pastor Teresa Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Visitation with family and friends will take place Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Glenn Stroech, Gary Stroech, David Hanus, Lonnie Lueck, Bruce Hohlt, and David Lueck. Memorials should be directed to Eben Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin.
