Esther Neumann

Esther Korella (Richter) Neumann passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at College Station Medical Center at the age of 78.

Esther was born January 11, 1939 in the New Wehdem community to parents John W. and Minnie (Spross) Richter. She was baptized at St. James Lutheran Church on February 26, 1939 by Pastor Schmidt and confirmed on April 6, 1952 by Pastor Eugene Meier at the same church. She graduated from Brenham High School (Class of 1957) where she was a twirler and head drum major in the band. Esther was married to Fritz J. Neumann on June 30, 1957 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Brenham.

After marrying, Fritz and Esther relocated to Houston where they resided for 25 years. During her years there, she was very involved at Grace Lutheran Church and was organist there for 15 years. After returning to Brenham in 1982, she joined Christ Lutheran Church and there served as an organist for 28 years. Additionally she taught piano lessons in her home for 13 years where she hosted many piano recitals for her students and also volunteered by playing piano at Kruse Village.

Throughout her life, Esther’s passions were her music, faith and family. She was always very involved in church activities and enjoyed hosting many family parties. She also loved playing dominoes with family and friends.

For the past 5+ years, she has been a resident of Kruse Village. She shared her love of music with the other residents by entertaining them with her piano playing and also playing at weekly chapel services.

Survivors include: son Wade S. Neumann and wife Diane, daughter Tiffany Vann and husband Dwayne; grandchildren Allyson Galle, Ashley Neumann, Samantha Lindsey, Grace Vann and Kaden Vann; brother-in-law Guss Neumann

Esther was predeceased by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Fritz and Rosa Neumann; brothers, John W.J. Richter and Melvin Richter; sister, Ruth Hugo as well as her beloved husband of 52 years.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 7, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church of Brenham. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Serving as pallbearers: Justin Galle, Mike Davis, Jason Richter, Will Hegar, James Nail and Connor Adams.

Honorary pallbearers: Carl Bridges, Aubrey Perry, Harry Zientek, Robert Mueller, Pastor Mike Button, Pastor Herb Palmer, Pastor Blair Lundborg and David Conrad.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Kruse Village for the wonderful care they provided for Esther. They would also like to thank Dr. Lane Miller and Dr. William Loesch for their compassionate medical care.
