Esther Schlabach

Mrs. Esther Evelyn Schlabach, age 85, of Brenham, and the widow of Wollie Schlabach, passed away Monday morning, August 10, 2009 at Meridian Care in San Antonio. Mrs. Schlabach was born December 28, 1923 to Louis Otto and Emma Miksch Wunderlich in Vanderbilt, Texas. She attended Round Top schools and Massey Business College in Houston. She married Wollie Schlabach on February 2, 1944 by Pastor Kralik in Round Top, Texas. She was baptized on July 19, 1925 at St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vanderbilt, Texas and confirmed on September 18, 1938 in Round Top, Texas by Pastor H. Brunotte. Mrs. Schlabach worked side-by-side with her husband in their business, Wollie Radio and Appliance Company for many years and later cared for her grandchildren who were the true joy in her life. Mrs. Schlabach is survived by her daughter, Miranda and husband Don Meier of Brenham; son, Walter and wife Alisa Schlabach of Brenham; grandchildren, Christopher Louis Meier, Carra Emmalee Meier, Katie Michelle Schlabach and Jonathan Louis Schlabach; brother, Morris Wunderlich and wife Joyce; brother-in-law, Bob Dyer; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce and Leon Mantey; sister-in-law, Beverly Schlabach; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her ever faithful pets, Snickers and Polo, who were a constant source of love and companionship. Mrs. Schlabach was preceded in death by her husband, Wollie Schlabach, on August 23, 1999; sisters, Vera Brau, Irma Kieke and Bernice Dyer; brothers-in-law, Vastine Brau, Cody Kieke and Sam Schlabach; niece, Dianne Kieke Urban, and nephew Bill Huff. Funeral services for Mrs. Schlabach will be held Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastor Phillip Fenton officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family requests that memorials be made to St. Paul''s Radio or TV Ministry. The family will receive visitors Wednesday, August 12 at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St. in Brenham.
