Eugene Henry "Dutch" Ahlhorn, Sr., 92, of Brenham, died February 1, 2011 at Argent Court in Brenham. Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church of Salem with Pastor Charles Parnell officiating. Burial will be in Shelby Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Mr. Ahlhorn was born August 25, 1918 in Oldenburg, Fayette County, Texas, to Henry J. and Martha Boehme Ahlhorn. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John''s Lutheran Church of Warrenton. He was a 1938 graduate of La Grange High School and a graduate of Draughen''s Business School. On April 6, 1941, he was married to Irma Leona Wagner in St. John''s Lutheran Church of Warrenton. Mr. Ahlhorn was a retired water plant operator for the City of Houston. He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church and Advent Lutheran Church, both in Houston, and most recently was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Salem. Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Ron and Judy Ahlhorn of Seabrook and Gene Ahlhorn and Clarisa Gray of Pearland; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and John Kieke of Breckenridge; grandchildren, Deborah Bredthauer, Rodney Kieke, Craig Ahlhorn, Krista Rumbaugh, Scott Ahlhorn, Kevin Ahlhorn, Laurie Yarbrough, Erin and Evan Qualls; great-grandchildren, Justin Hannsz, Clay Bredthauer, Emilee Kieke, Samantha Ahlhorn , Austin Rumbaugh, Makena Rumbaugh, Lily Yarbrough, Cayden Yarbrough, Emma, Maddy, and Clay Johnson ; sister, Bernice Wessels; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Vernice Ahlhorn, Alice and Herbert Ebernz, Ila and Daniel Kieke and Clarence and Shirley Wagner; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Martha Ahlhorn; wife, Irma Ahlhorn; and brother, Forres Ahlhorn. Pallbearers will be Rodney Kieke, Craig Ahlhorn, Scott Ahlhorn, Kevin Ahlhorn, Kevin Rumbaugh, Justin Hannsz, Brian Bredthauer and Clay Bredthauer. Memorials may be given to Salem Lutheran Church of Salem. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., Brenham.
