Eugene Everett Arnold, 84, of Brenham, passed away on March 27,2020 in College Station.

Gene was born January 16, 1936, in Brenham, TX, to Carl and Erna (Jurries) Arnold. He grew up working with his father at Boetcher Lumber Company, where he fell in love with woodworking. Gene later opened his own woodcraft shop, Gene’s Woodcrafts, and created many beautiful pieces of furniture, cabinetry, and other assorted clocks and projects. He later went to work with Brenham Opportunity center; he shared his love of working with others and found great joy in the friendships he formed while teaching. When Gene was not working, he spent time with his family and friends at Lake Somerville fishing and camping. He also had a great love for animals. He raised several orphaned wildlife ones until they were able to be released to survive on their own.
On November 18, 1988, he was married to Zula Curtis at Calvary Baptist Church in Brenham.
Survivors include his wife, Zula Arnold of Brenham; children, James Arnold and wife Gloria of Brenham, Valerie Davis and husband Billy of Pearland, Audrey Roberts and husband Bill of College Station; grandchildren, Jason Arnold and wife Kellye, Lauren Arnold, Jeremy Arnold and wife Madison, Austin Arnold, Dalton Arnold, Brent Martinez and wife Kaleena, Cory Martinez, Nick Davis and wife Carlie, Lindsay Shanahan and husband Ronnie; great-grandchildren, Jonah Arnold, Grace Martinez, Cooper Davis, Avery Davis, Skylar Davis, Kyleigh Davis, Dustyn Shanahan, Peyton Shanahan, Paxton Shanahan; niece Lori Pratka; step-sons; Wade Petty and wife Julie, Terry Petty and wife Cynthia; step-grandchildren T.J. Petty, Tiffany Petty, Jenifer Petty, Joshua Weyand; step-great grandson Victor Estrada.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sister-in-law Lloyd and Billie Arnold.
Memorials may be given to Calvary Baptist Church in Brenham.
