Evelyn Bredthauer, 94, of Burton, died November 25, 2006 at Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mrs. Bredthauer was born April 22, 1912 to August and Emmie Dietz Hauck. She was baptized April 12, 1913 at Eben Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin by Rev. J. Mgebroff, and confirmed August 29, 1926 by Pastor William Utesch, also at Eben Ezer Lutheran Church.. She attended Berlin School and Blinn College. On October 30, 1938, she was married to Henry Bredthauer, Jr., by the Rev. Ed Lampe. Survivors include her husband, Henry J. R. Bredthauer of Burton; daughter Donna Winkelmann and husband Larry, of Burton; Grandsons Heath Damon and Vance Warren Winkelmann, and sister-in-law, Ona Falke; nieces and nephews Jeanette Preuss, Lloyd Quebe, Carolyn Wittner, Robert Falke, Connie Gwyn, Bobette Gambrell, Pam Campbell, Becky Hall and Bill Bredthauer, and great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Erva and husband Henry Quebe; sister, Elsie Foster; sister-in-law Connie Stoerner and husband Otto; brother-in-law, Clarence Falke, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tommy and Miriam Bredthauer. Mrs. Bredthauer was a member of the Christian Women s Fellowship, United Church of Christ Women s Guild II, Burton School Mothers Club, Washington County Cow Belles, and the Burton Heritage Society. She also served as leader in the Girl Scout and 4-H organizations. She was a former member of Eben Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin, First Christian Church of Burton, and at the time of her death, St. John United Church of Christ of Burton. Mrs. Bredthauer assisted her husband in the ranching business. Before moving to Burton, she was employed at Duke and Ayres Store. Services for Evelyn Bredthauer will be held at 10 a.m.., Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at St. John United Church of Christ in Burton. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John United Church of Christ Building Fund or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W.
