Evelyn Rathke Broecker, 90, of Brenham and for the past several years, a resident of the Brenham Rest Home, died Saturday, December 30, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mrs. Broecker was born July 6, 1916, in the Welcome Community, Austin, County, Texas, to Gustav and Emma Albrecht Rathke. She was baptized October 6, 1916, at Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome and confirmed March 29, 1931 at Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome by Reverend J. C. Appel. She received her education in the Welcome school. In October 1935, she was married to Arnold Broecker in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome by Reverend Mansur. She and her husband managed the Shirt Tail Farm for 21 years. Mrs. Broecker was a member of St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Clinton & Ruth Broecker of Brenham and granddaughter, Becky Broecker of Bryan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, five brothers and four sisters. The funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Kim Little-Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Kemper, Kyle Dannhaus, Odell Stein, Otto Kemper, Jr., Rodney Roeske, Jimmy Eickhoff and Jason Dannhaus. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 1, at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Memorials may be given to St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main St., in Brenham
