Evelyn Reue Fuelberg of Westminster Manor, Austin, Texas died at Dell Seton Medical Center on December 15, 2017 after a brief illness. She was born in the Sandy Hill community of Washington County, Texas on August 9, 1921 to Ben Reue and Emma Ellerman Reue. She was baptized on October 23, 1921 and confirmed on March 21, 1937 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill.
She married Ben Fuelberg on April 12, 1942, also in ST. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. They were married 68 years at his death in 2010 and had 2 sons. Prior to and during Worlds War II, she lived with her husband in various Army Cavalry posts in Texas until he and the men of Washington County E Troop, 124th Cavalry were shipped to the China/Burma/India theater. After his return they lived in Brenham, Johnson City, and Austin, each for many years. Evelyn was a homemaker who loved her home and raising her sons. She enjoyed her family and friends, music and dancing, watching the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans and playing Pitch.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Franklin Reue and her beloved husband Ben. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Bennie and Jeanie Fuelberg of Dripping Springs and Curtis Fuelberg and Susan Griffith of Austin, grandchildren, Benjamin Fuelberg and wife Tricia, Jana Willis and husband Kent, John Griffith, Laura Orloff and husband Alek, and sister-in-law Lavonne Reue, brothers-in-law Walter Fuelberg and Earl Bright, sister-in-law Lillie Sommer, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Will Dahmann, Lenny Jasinski, Benjamin Fuelberg, David Sommer, Paul Yadlowsky, Kent Willis, Alek Orloff and John Griffith. Honorary pallbearers are Roger Ellermann, Gus Mutscher, all nieces, nephews, cousins and all children of the members of the 124th Cavalry
A memorial service will be held in Austin at Westminster Manor at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 20. Funeral Service will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill 8819 Fm 2621 Brenham, Texas, at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 with internment following at St. Matthew’s Church Cemetery of Sandy Hill.
