Evelyn S. Klausmeyer, 81, wife of Elgin Klausmeyer, passed away March 31, 2016 in Brenham.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2016 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham, with Pastors Phil Fenton and Brianna Merkle officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Evelyn Klausmeyer was born May 4, 1934 in Prairie Hill to Arthur H. Sr. and Alma Kruse Sander. She was baptized June 17, 1934 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, where she was also confirmed on March 21, 1948. On Dec. 6, 1953, she married Elgin Klausmeyer at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.
A faithful member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Evelyn taught Sunday School for over 45 years, both at St. Paul's and St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. She served her community as den mother for Cub and Boy Scouts troops. Evelyn was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, holding various offices over the years, and also served as past president of the VFW Auxiliary.
She was very interested in genealogy, and published four books pertaining to family history. Evelyn loved her entire family, and her immediate family brought her great pleasure. She enjoyed traveling, as well as cooking for her family, specializing in steak and gravy dishes for them to enjoy. Evelyn also enjoyed spending time in the Hill Country at the family ranch in Menard County.
Survivors include her husband, Elgin Klausmeyer; sons and daughters-in-law Randy and Pat Klausmeyer, and Mark and Connie Klausmeyer, all of Brenham; grandchildren: Amy Lynn Klausmeyer and special friend, Joe Kulcak; Nikki Renee Klausmeyer and fiancé Calvin King; Kristen Nicole Schroeder and husband Adam, and Kayla Beth Klausmeyer and special friend, Lance Taylor; sisters-in-law Janet Sander and Flora Dell Marek; nieces and nephews Carol Ann Schuey, Regan Scott Sander, and Deborah Sander.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Rev. Arthur H. Sander, Jr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Reinhardt and Thekla Klausmeyer, and brothers-in-law Roger Kaase and Henry Marek.
Serving as pallbearers are Travis Ray Sander, Ervin Sander, Jr., Donald Lee Sander, Fred Henry Sander, Ralph Poehlmann, and Regan Scott Sander.
Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, or to Hospice Brazos Valley.
