Evelyn Meyer, 96, of Rehburg community, died August 31, 2012 in Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Giddings, Tx. Funeral arrangements are scheduled for Monday September 3, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul''s Lutheran Church in Rehburg, with Pastor Denise Seymour officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Sunday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Evelyn Jezek Meyer was born September 29, 1915 in Wesley to Alfred and Lena Schilling Jezek. She was baptized on February 12, 1916 in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome by Pastor J. Appel and confirmed on May 13, 1934 at St. Paul''s Lutheran Church in Brenham by Pastor Arthur Hartmann. She was married to Willie A. Meyer on December 6, 1934 at St. Paul''s Lutheran Church in Brenham by Pastor Arthur Hartmann. Mrs. Meyer attended Washington County Schools and was a long time member of St. Paul''s Lutheran Church of Rehburg. She was well known for making her delicious homemade coffee cakes. Her family was of great importance to her. For a number of years she cooked at Burton Schools, and was know as "Aunt Evelyn" to the students. She also did custodial work for the Burton State Bank, and St. Paul''s Lutheran Church in Rehburg. She held all three jobs until the age of 79. Mrs. Meyer was a very caring person and taking care of many ill people in the community. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Burton Fire Department. For a number of years, she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was also a member of the W.E.L.C.A., and enjoyed membership in a quilting group. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Dorothy and J. C. Wiederhold; sons and daughters-in-law Billy Joe and Eleanora Meyer, Edward and Mary Meyer, Howard and Janice Meyer, Ray and Tinnie Meyer, and Danny Meyer; daughter-in-law, Linda Meyer; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie A. Meyer, two sons, Wilburn and Randy Sr., parents, one brother, two sisters, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers are her grandchildren: Michael Wiederhold, Robert Meyer, Rodney Meyer, Christopher Meyer, Ray Meyer Jr., Randy Meyer Jr., and G.W. Meyer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul''s Lutheran Church of Rehburg or Brazos Valley Hospice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main, Brenham.
