Evelyn Northrup

Evelyn Doretta Northrup, 82, of Brenham, and the widow of Preston G. Northrup, II, died April 11, 2003 in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mrs. Northrup was born July 18, 1920, in Houston, Texas to Joseph and Evelyn Doretta Lohse Kreger. She was employed at Stelzig Western Wear in Houston and Marsh Department Store in Brenham. Mrs. Northrup was a member of the Herbal Society in Round Top, the William Penn Extension Homemakers and the Brenham Presbyterian Church and Ladies Guild. She was also a mentor for the HOSTS program at Brenham Elementary School. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Preston G. III and Debbie J. Northrup of Brenham and Pat and Joel Christie of Dickenson; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Ruth Kreger of Houston; grandchildren, Buddy Northrup, Cindy Longoria and Wendy Cary; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Kenneth Kreger. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2003 in the Brenham Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston. The family will receive visitors at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2003. Her nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, in Brenham.
