Evelyn Lehmann Reue, 81, widow of Harry Reue, passed away January 5, 2010 in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 7, 2010 at Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor Karen Wilhelm officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Evelyn was born March 1, 1929 to John H. and Minnie Spitzer Lehmann in Fairbanks, Texas. Baptized July 21, 1929 in St. Paul''s Lutheran Church in Brenham by Pastor Arthur Hartmann, she was confirmed in 1943 in St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill by Pastor W. C. Poehlmann. On June 15, 1947, she was married to Harry A. Reue by Pastor Poehlmann, also at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. A member of the Ladies and Women of the Church, she served as chairman and treasurer of these organizations, and taught Sunday School for a number of years. She worked with the finance committee and various other church organizations throughout her membership at St. John''s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. Later, she served on the Altar Guild and was a member of Joy Circle at Christ Lutheran Church. Evelyn also served as a Cub Scout leader for several years, and was also active in the Girl Scouts. A former employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., and St. Jude Hospital, she was later employed by Ehlert, Weiser, and Betts Law Firm as a legal secretary. Evelyn was an avid Aggie and Dallas Cowboy fan. Survivors include her daughter, Marcella Bennett of Brenham; daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Jim Hooker of Plano, son and daughter-in-law James and Libby Reue of Coppell; grandchildren: Jason and Beau Grabarschick, Andrea Hooker, Christopher and Adrianne Reue, and Errinne and Clay Horton; sister Ruth Lehmann Wehmeyer, brother and sister-in-law Ed and Ann Lehmann, and a sister-in-law Lonie Reue, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Reue; twin sister, Esther Herzog, brother Walter Lehmann, and sister, Hilda Wieghat, as well as two brothers in infancy, Gus and John. Serving as pallbearers are Nolan Lehmann, David Lehmann, Darrell Wehmeyer, Larry Pieper, Mark Herzog, David Reue, David Wieghat, and Kevin Lehmann. The family would like to thank the staff of Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center for their kindness and loving care. Memorials may be directed to Christ Lutheran Church.
