Evelyn Sandifer

Evelyn Joy Sandifer, 57, of Burton, TX, died April 21, 2003, at her residence. She was born June 20, 1945, in Beaumont, TX, to John Guy and Dora Ann Newcomb Jackson. She graduated magna cum laude and earned a bachelor of science degree in general studies and a master s degree in English. Mrs. Sandifer was a retired teacher who was qualified to teach elementary education, kindergarten, English and special education. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, David and Kerry Devenport of Giddings and Daryl and Miranda Devenport of Houston; daughters and sons-in-law, Dana and John Brewer of Colony and Dawn and David Gibbs of Brenham; grandsons, Dustin Devenport, John Brewer, James Gibbs and Adam Brewer; and granddaughters, Mary Devenport and Maiyah Devenport. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 25 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Service arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W.
