Everett James "E.J." Schumacher, 82, of Brenham, died June 15, 2015, at his residence. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 18 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service for E.J. Schumacher will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 19 at First Baptist Church in Brenham with Dr. Ross Shelton and Dr. Steve Suders officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Mr. Schumacher was born Nov. 20, 1932, in Houston, TX, to Everett James Sr. and Aubrey Louise Foley Schumacher. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On Aug. 14, 1953, he married Merlene Bounds at Berean Baptist Church in Houston. Mr. Schumacher was retired from Washington County 911 communications. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Brenham, where he served as a deacon and trustee. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Genealogy Society, Texas Gourd Society and Citizens On Patrol. Mr. Schumacher was a graduate of Brenham Citizens Police Academy. He was a coach for the Berean Baptist fast pitch softball team from 1966-1970. Survivors include his wife, Merlene Schumacher of Brenham; sons, Stephen Wayne Schumacher of Tyler and Scott Dwaine Schumacher and wife Linda Schumacher of Brenham; daughter, Sheila Suders and husband Dr. Steve Suders of Brenham; grandchildren, Dr. Randall Suders, Rick Suders, Reagan Suders, Ryan Suders, Jeriamy Schumacher, Kristan Schumacher and Andrew Schumacher; sister, Mary Willburn of Tomball; and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Glenda Bounds of Dallas, Anna Marye Curry of Brenham and Freda and Bill Martin of Caldwell.
