Mr. Ewald Willie Bage, age 80 of Hempstead , died Thursday, January 27, 2005 at his residence. He was born March 8, 1924 in Dime Box, TX, the son of William & Selma Marburger Bage. Attended the Dime Box schools, graduated from Blinn College, and graduated from the Chicago Electronics School. A veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. While in Brenham he was employed at the Navaratil Music House, in Hempstead by Schwarz s. He also owned and operated Ewald T.V. in Brenham. He sponsored the Girls Soft Ball Team. He had the first colored T.V. in Brenham. On April 19, 1947 he married Julia Judy Debartolo in Chicago, Il. She preceded him in death on July 22, 2003. Mr. Bage is survived by his sons: Joey Bage of Hempstead, & Fred Bage of Bellville; grandchildren Freddie Lynn Anastasi, Shaye Michele Bage, Charlie Ann Smith, Julie Ann Abke, Hailee Dawn Bage, & Joseph Willie Bage; 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers; Robert Bage of Texas City & Clarence Bage of Dime Box; sisters Lydia Bailey of Ledbetter & Lorene Caddell of Georgetown. He was good to his family and his family came first, not only his children but also his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter in law, Lillie Jane Bage, and a sister Dorothy. He loved to watch baseball, especially the Astros. Ewald loved to fish and hunt deer. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 31, 2005 in Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham, with Rev. Harvey Abke officiating, interment to follow in the Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends and relatives from 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday in the funeral home.
