Flora W. Weinert, widow of Alvin Weinert, died January 16, 2008 in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mrs. Weinert was born February 23, 1919 to Otto and Annie Nichter Meyer in Rehburg, Texas. She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg on April 6, 1919 by Pastor H. Weber and was later confirmed in the same church on Oct. 2, 1932 by Rev. C.A. Lehne. She attended Rehburg Public School. On Dec. 1, 1937, she married Alvin Weinert. She was employed as a nurse’s aid at Brenham Rest Home. Mrs. Weinert was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville, where she was also a member of the Women of the ELCW. She loved to cook and bake as long as she was able. Survivors include sons, Milroy Weinert and wife Karel of Round Top and Elroy Weinert and wife Jessie of Grapeland; as well as four grandchildren, Sherry Whitmarsh and husband Robert of Concord, California, Shelly Pietsch and husband Daniel of La Grange and Rhonda Huseman and husband Ben of Rosenberg; grandson David Weinert of Grapeland; great-granddaughters, Elyse and Ariana Whitmarsh and Kalie and Kyla Pietsch, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Weinert on Oct. 15, 1985; her parents; a daughter, Bernice Hackemack; two sisters; and two brothers. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Funeral services for will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville with Sister Anne Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Irvin Meyer, Dennis Maass, Felix Meyer, Charles Goeke, , Daniel Pietsch and Ben Huseman. Honorary pallbearers will be Edgar Lentz and Robert Whitmarsh. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
