Florian Meleski Sr.

Florian John Meleski Sr. of Chappell Hill, Texas passed away December 30, 2008 at Trinity Hospital in Brenham. Mr. Meleski was educated at St. Thomas High School in Houston, baptized and confirmed at Christ the King Catholic Church in Houston. Florian was a service manager at Al Parker Buick, River Oak Chrysler Plymouth and LaGrange Motors in LaGrange, Texas. His career spanned 60 years. He was a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, vice chairman of The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Trail Ride and a lifetime member of the Houston Farm and Ranch Club. A musician since his childhood, Florian and his father, Johnnie Meleski, were the core of a band known as Johnnie Meleski and the White Eagles. Following his father''s death, Florian founded the "Polish Eagles", a band famous in Southeast and South Central Texas. He loved life, his guitar, fiddle, making people happy, Chappell Hill and his country place with his wife and golden retrievers. Survivors are his wife Vivian Meleski, stepson Randy Steiner and Julie, stepdaughter Luana Pfaff Darrell, daughter Mary Ann Wisnowski, Thelma Worchesik, Linda Harris, Barbara Meleski, Sons Florian Meleski Jr. and Bernard Meleski a sister Vicky Barron, five step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. Visitation will begin on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. The family will be present between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel Saturday January 3 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Atkinson Cemetery in Chappell Hill. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jason Foster and Matthew Steiner along with his poker buddies: Clay Parker, Lloyd Pittman, Rig Wrigling, Ken Hoyt and Ed Wilkening.
