Floris Whittaker

February 22, 1934 — February 11, 2024

Floris was born Thursday, February, 22, 1934, at home, in William Penn, Washington County, Texas. She was the seventh of eight children to Heinrich "Henry" Friedrich Wilhelm and Lizette Victoria (Dahmann) Thane. All have preceded her peaceful passing Sunday, February 11, 2024 at High Hope Care Center, Brenham, Tx.


Floris was baptized, confirmed, and married at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and as a child attended William Penn Elementary School. She graduated among the top of class 1952, Brenham High School. Floris met Glenn Wilmer Whittaker and was married May 22, 1954.

Isaiah 41 verse 10 - "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Was a favorite bible verse of hers.

Floris was blessed with six children: Mark (Barbara Jean Bilski) Whittaker; Melanie (Carlton Ray) Andrejczak; Jonathan (Paula Gregg) Whittaker; Stephen (Robin Queen) Whittaker; Rachael (Douglas) Croom; and Christopher A. Whittaker. She had 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.


Floris was preceded in death by granddaughter, Amanda Lea, and son Jon Whittaker; as well as daughter-in-law, B.J. and son, Mark Whittaker.


Floris cherished her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her children. She is survived by children: Melanie, Stephen, Rachael and Chris; daughter-in-law, Paula Whittaker; grandchildren Bryant & Aric Whittaker; Aubrey (Brinkmeyer) and Isaac Andrejczak; Stacy (Murphy), Bret, and Taylor Whittaker; Stefan and Joshua Whittaker; Travis, Tyler and Mazette Croom; Christopher and Matthew Whittaker; brother-in-law, Wayne Majors; and numerous extended families.


A Celebration Of Life for Floris will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 22,2024 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Wm. Penn, Brenham, Texas.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to her church or Hospice Brazos Valley.
