Frances Lucy Ondrus Gabriel, 89, of Ennis, Texas, and formerly of Brenham, died Feb. 23, 2005, in Ennis from complications of Alzheimer s. Mrs. Gabriel was born Dec. 12, 1915, in Middleton, Michigan, to John and Filomena Lukas Ondrus. She was baptized April 30, 1916. On Nov. 26, 1938, she married Norman Edward Gabriel in Our Lady of Sorrows Basilica in Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Gabriel was a homemaker and was a member of the Fortnightly Club, Band Parents Club, and the Chiropractic Society Auxiliary, where she served as secretary and treasurer. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Iris Gabriel of Ennis and Gary and Teresa Gabriel of Brenham; daughters and son-in-law, Pat Lowery of Austin and Susan and Joe Griffin of Goldthwaite; seven grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 in Memorial Oaks Chapel with Chaplain Geraldine Paluszak officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. The family will receive visitors from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Grandsons and friend of the family will serve as pallbearers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman Gabriel, in 1994; and her son, Thomas Gabriel. Memorials may be given to Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library or your favorite charity. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
