Franklin Fuchs

Franklin E. Fuchs, 83, of Burton, died March 27, 2007 at Trinity Medical Center.

Mr. Fuchs was born June 20, 1923 in Burton to Robert A. and Martha Jarozewski Fuchs. He was baptized July 29, 1923 and confirmed April 14, 1938 in St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton. In 1947, he was married to LaVerne Anna Zibilski in Zion Lutheran Church by Pastor Fred Mgebroff.

Franklin was a member of the first graduating class of 1941 from Burton High School. He was a life-long member of St. John's United Church of Christ where he served on the church council for 14 years. His love for music was obvious as he participated in Christmas Cantatas, the Chancel Choir, and was a long-time member of the Men's Choir.

Franklin was involved in the ranching and farming business his entire life and was formerly employed as a surveyor. He raised registered Red Poll cattle for 50 years. He was a member of the Sons of Herman for 60 years, serving as secretary-treasurer for 44 years. He was also an insurance representative for the Sons of Herman. He served on many committees related to the agricultural industry, such as the Agricultural Stabilization Committee and Farm Service Agency. Franklin also served as the secretary-treasurer of the Burton Farm Bureau for 40 years, being awarded the 2006 Outstanding Farmer and Rancher by the Washington Co. Farm Bureau. He was also a director of the Farmers Mutual Aid Association, and served on the Washington Co. Fair Lamb Committee.

His many loves in life were dancing with his favorite angel, LaVerne, and his dancing friends. He also enjoyed checking the cattle on his tractor or Gator. His pride and joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a fun-loving, good Christian man who was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis Lynn and Kathy Fuchs of Brenham and Robert Doyle and Rosi Fuchs of Brenham; one daughter, Cynthia Louise and husband Tommy Hart of Lexington; six grandchildren: Christy Moran and husband David of Brenham, Courtney Mason and husband Wes of Franklin, Justin Fuchs and fiancé April Albrecht of Brenham, Cody Fuchs of Brenham, Cullen Wagner and wife Melissa of New Ulm, Cameron Wagner and fiance Shanna Handrick of Fedor; step-grandson, Dustin Hart of Caldwell; great-grandchildren, Parker Lane Mason, Logan Shane Mason, Colby Wade Wagner, Madison Claire Moran; sisters Adeline Landua of Rehburg, Mildred Hart of Austin, Hildegard Lewis of Burton, Louise Jacob of Houston; brother, Milton Fuchs of Houston; one sister-in-law Joyce Zibilski Fuchs and husband Vernon of Houston; two brothers-in-law, Nelson Zibilski and wife Susie of Brenham and Nathan Zibilski and wife Carolyn of Magnolia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife LaVerne Fuchs on August 6, 2003 a son-in-law, Gregory Wagner, and a brother, Robert Fuchs.

The funeral service will be 4 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2007 at St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton with Reverend Glen Schoeneberg and Mr. Greg Felder officiating. Burial will follow in St. John s United Church of Christ Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors today, Tuesday, March 27 at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Mr. Fuchs will lie in state at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton beginning at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 6 to 8 pm.

Serving as pallbearers are Justin Fuchs, Cody Fuchs, Cullen Wagner, Cameron Wagner, Christy Moran, and Courtney Mason.

Memorials may be given to St. John's United Church of Christ in Burton. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.
