Fred Moorhead, Sr.

Fred Myles Moorhead, Sr., 88, widower of Josie Self Moorhead, died December 26, 2008 in Trinity Medical Center. Mr. Moorhead was born September 21, 1920 in Durant, Mississippi to James Linder and Myrtice Weeks Moorhead. He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. On February 22, 1946 he married Josie Self in Durant, Mississippi. He was in the truck rental business. Mr. Moohead was a member of First Baptist Church of Burton. He especially loved his granddaughter, and considered every day as a brand new day. He was an upbeat person who never had a down day. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Jane Moorhead of Burton, and a granddaughter, Peggy Moorhead, of the Cayman Islands. A memorial service for Fred Myles Moorhead, Sr. will be held Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Burton with Brother Jack Broadwater officiating.
