Fred Ponfick, 81, died Sunday, August 12, 2007 in Triumph Hospital in Tomball. Mr. Ponfick was born August 6, 1926, in Carmine, Texas to Freida Roemer and Fred Fede Ponfick, sr. He was baptized February 27, 1927 in Carmine and confirmed in St. John s UCC in Burton. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on Nov. 1, 1945 and served in Panama until he was honorably discharged on November 30, 1946. On May 7, 1976, he married Dorothy Struck-Badke. Mr. Ponfick was retired from The Steadley Co. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ponfick of Burton; son Mike Ponfick and wife Janell of Bedford; daughter Debra Lewis of Wylie; stepson Ricky Struck of Burton; stepdaughter, Leatrice Marek and husband Dan of Warrenton; five grandchildren and five great-granchildren; sister, Peggy Ponfick of Brenham, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Ronnie Lewis; sisters and brothers-in-law Myrtle Guelker and husband Henry; Lucille Levien and husband Leroy; Elvera Yant and husband Harry; Alfred Ponick and wife Ruby; Bill Ponfick; two infant brothers, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Roy and Natalie Struck. Funeral services for Fred Ponfick will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton with Rev. Glen Schoeneberg officiating, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 unti 8:00 p.m. at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Serving as pallbearers are Lawrence Nixon, John Denninger, Robert Wagner, Harold Kelm, Douglas Ullrich, Ben bosse, and Douglas Harmel. Memorials may be given to St. John s United Church of Christ Building Fund in Burton. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home of Burton.
