Fritz Adolph (Sonnie) Mueller died February 19, 2019 at Brenham Nursing and Rehab.
Fritz Adolph (Sonnie) Mueller was born January 2, 1920 to Hulda Schulz and Fritz Mueller, Jr. On June 19, 1940 he married Adonie Kieke at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine. He was a farmer raising cotton, corn, and cattle until he joined road construction work in the 1950’s. In the mid ‘60’s he became bus foreman for Burton I.S.D. where he loved doing mechanic work on buses, maintenance. He drove a bus until cancer struck in 1981 and he was forced into early retirement.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, raising cattle, gardening (especially growing potatoes), and spending time with grandchildren teaching them everything he knew (which he would say was “a lot”). He never met a stranger and could tell stories for days, literally. He loved saltwater fishing and dearly enjoyed taking family and friends to his favorite “spots”. He was an avid harmonica player, but only played when he wanted to.
Fritz was an active member of First Baptist Church in Burton, serving as Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and song director for many years. He assisted in moving the old church building to the original location at Mt. Zion Cemetery where it remains today. He was very instrumental and passionate in assisting in building the new church in 1982. He was awarded Citizen of the Year in 1980 by the Burton Lions Club, an honor that he cherished deeply.
Fritz is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Janette Peters, Dorothy and Ben Allen Poncik, Linda and Mike Wilke, and Nancy and Dale Guelker. Grandchildren: Kevin (Kara) Peters, Kimberly (Jeff) Shows, Kayla (Jason) Romine, Dayna (Neal) Lampe, Amy (Frank) Petrzelka, Brent (Sandra) Wilke,Jeremy (Jillian) Wilke, Lauren (Colt) Gillum, Lyssa Wilke, Amber (Ryan) Lampe, Joshua (Leianne) Guelker, Colton (Jessica) Guelker, Kelsey (Taylor) Rybarski. Although we will miss him dearly, we take comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain, safe in the arms of our Savior, and with all our loved ones that have gone on before. What a reunion that must have been!!
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Hospice Brazos Valley, or a charity of your choice.
