G. Bennett

G. Grant Bennett, of Brenham, passed away on Wednesday, March 13th, 2013 in Bryan, TX. He died comfortably, and on his own terms, in hospice care. Grant was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and follower of Christ. He was an example to all who knew him of how to live well, to live simply, and to live generously. Grant was born in Houston in 1931 and spent his life there until moving to Brenham in 1983. He was married to Ruth Ann Bennett from 1949 until her death in 1999. He was married to Bonnie Jones Bennett from 2000 to her death in 2011. He worked in the petroleum industry until his retirement, after which he was an avid musician, remote control modeler, gardener, and member of Brenham''s First Baptist Church. He has three children, William Bennett Sr., who died in 2004, Cathy Patterson, and Annabette Bennett. He has five grandchildren: Rebecca Litton, William Bennett Jr., Leah Edmiston, Daniel Edmiston, and Amanda Patterson. He has seven great-grandchildren: Ashley Treece, Julia Litton, Caleb Treece, William Bennett III, Noah Edmiston, Alexa Litton, and Oliver Bennett. Visitation will be at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham, TX, on Monday, March 18, 2013, from 6-8 PM. The funeral, also at Memorial Oaks, will be held on Tuesday, March 19th, at 2 PM. Graveside service is on the auspice of Graham Lodge 20 AFAM.
