Gaylain Ann Keenan

June 7, 1943 — January 31, 2025

Brenham

Gaylain Ann Keenan peacefully passed into heaven on January 31, 2025. Born on June 7, 1943, in Harlingen, Texas, to Theodore and Kathleen Low, Gaylain's life was marked by love, devotion, and a passion for helping others. She earned her master’s degree in education and dedicated her career to teaching children with special needs, making a lasting impact on all she encountered.

In 1965, Gaylain married her soulmate, Lynn Eldred Keenan, and together they made their home in Houston. Their greatest joy came in 1974 with the birth of their long-awaited son, Brian. While many are fortunate to have one love in their lives, Gaylain was blessed to have found a second in Cliff Netterville of Cypress, her dear companion for over a decade. Together, they shared a deep love for one another’s families and enjoyed countless moments at family gatherings.

Gaylain’s love for travel was matched only by her generous spirit. She enjoyed memorable trips to Ireland, British Columbia, England and France with her close friends Nancy, Marian, Mackie, and others as well as a special cruise with her mother-in-law, Marguerite Keenan and sister-in-law, Samme Wallace. Her artistic talents were equally impressive, she had a gift for sewing, quilting, and gardening; passions she cherished throughout her life. Gaylain was an active member of several groups, including her Lunch Ladies, Bunco group, and Red Hat (Butterfly) Ladies. She was also involved in the Quilt Guild, DAR, Bible study groups, and the Retired Teachers Association. As a member of First United Methodist Church of Brenham, she found strength and joy in her spiritual community.

Preceding Gaylain in death are her parents, Theodore and Kathleen Low; her beloved husband, Lynn Keenan; her aunt, Dorothy Cohea; and her brother, Sam Low. She is survived by her devoted son, Brian Keenan and wife, Cassy, of Brenham, Texas; her cherished grandchildren, Tovin and Lauren; her sister, Cheryl Gutierrez and husband Arthur of San Antonio; her brother, Ted Low and wife Carolyn of Houston; and her brother, Dennis Low and wife Patty of Austin. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were blessed to know her.

Gaylain’s remains will be cremated and interred in Wimberley along with her parents and husband. Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who knew her.
