Geneva Ehlert

Geneva Ann Ehlert, 59, of Brenham, died July 16, 2006, at her residence. Mrs. Ehlert was born Dec. 5, 1946, in Brenham, TX, to Arnold Cotton and Laura Hinze Holtkamp. She was baptized Jan. 5, 1947, in Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn by Pastor C.J. Appel and was confirmed April 10, 1960, in the same church by Pastor Wallace Marth. She was a graduate of Navasota High School. On July 2, 1967, she was married to Albert Sonny Ehlert, III in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill and the Prairie Hill-Rocky Hill Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Geneva was a retired administrative assistant for Brenham Independent School District Central Office and enjoyed spending time with family, gardening and being outdoors. Survivors include her son, Albert Wayne Ehlert of Brenham; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly Kraft and Juan Alcala of Brenham and Sara and Chad Gerke of Houston; three grandchildren, Mina Kraft, Lea Alcala and Alexa Gerke; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sue and Dr. Robert Wernecke of Austin and Pat and Dennis Schroeder of Brenham; her nieces and nephews; a special great-niece, Star Cavner; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 18 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2006, in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill with Rev. Dr. Sue Beall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dale Hinze, Clint Becker, Ronnie Hinze, Keith Hinze, Larry Schroeder, Charles Holtkamp, Don Holtkamp and Kevin Goessler Honorary pallbearers will be co-workers from BISD Central Office and friends and family who provided support during her courageous battle with cancer. Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill or Hospice.
