George Parker, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, at the age of 84. A Korean War veteran, poet, nature lover, and avid storyteller, George lived a full and remarkable life, always surrounded by the people and passions that brought him joy.
George bravely answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served during the Korean War. His time in the service shaped him in many ways, instilling in him a sense of duty, courage, and loyalty that remained with him for the rest of his life.
George's creative spirit found expression in his poetry. A gifted writer, he spent many years composing poems that reflected his love of family, nature, and life's many adventures. His verses captured the beauty of the natural world and the quiet moments that meant the most to him. His words were a source of inspiration for many and will be cherished for generations to come.
More than anything, George was a family man. He loved nothing more than sharing stories, often captivating his loved ones with his vivid recollections and colorful tales. His gift for storytelling was legendary among family and friends, and his stories-filled with humor, wisdom, and warmth-brought people together and will forever be remembered.
George was born on January 12, 1940, in Kingsville, Texas to Vernon Otis Parker and Elina Louise Hinson-Parker. He was baptized in 1952 at Anahuac Baptist Church. He was married to his loving wife and best friend on December 12, 1963. They shared 60 years of marriage-what an incredible journey of love and commitment!
He spent the best years of his life mowing the rolling 22 acres in Washington, Texas, turning every blade of grass into a memory. Each pass of the mower etched into the land the quiet devotion of time and care, shaping not just the fields, but also the stories carried by the wind.
George was preceded in death by his father and mother, Vernon, and Louise Parker.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Parker. His daughter Jennifer Davis (Will) of Washington, Tx; sons: Patrick Warden Parker (Denise) of The Colony, TX, Michael Parker (Michelle) of Magnolia, Texas. Grandchildren: Jakob Davis, Rylee Davis, Hailey Davis, Emilee Robinson, Chloe Parker, John Michael Parker, Joshua Parker, Victoria Schroeder, Shelby Moudry and Great Grandson, James Moudry. Other relatives include Hank and Janice Thompson and Ami Inaudi.
