He served Army Reserve and Air National Guard with Honorable Discharge.  In 1966, he met and married his wife Juanita (Janita), and they started their wonderful life together. They were members of Brenham Presbyterian Church in Brenham, TX.

When he was near, you knew a funny story and laughter would be coming soon.  He loved to make people laugh and was never without a good joke.  He never met a stranger and would spark a conversation with anyone he met.

His lifelong love of entrepreneurship started by opening the first medical equipment company, Jay Rentals, in Brenham, Texas. After selling Jay Rentals, he joined the family home health business, Jackson Healthcare Systems, in Temple, Texas. Additionally, he operated the Brenham location of Jackson Healthcare.  He and Juanita then opened and operated the first Wendy’s and later Schlotzsky’s restaurants in Brenham. His last business venture before retirement was owning and operating Country Inn II in Brenham, Texas. These were just a few of the business ventures in which he was involved. He had a wonderful life, adored his family, enjoyed success in the business world, and loved playing golf.  He has been a long-time member of the Brenham Country Club where he spent many days on the course. He would like to tell his friends, “Play one for me”.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Mavouryne and Olan Jackson of Temple, TX; and sister Lana Jackson.
