Geraldine Ziese

Geraldine Gerry Coleman Ziese, 76, of Brenham, died Oct. 28, 2006, at Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham. Mrs. Ziese was born July 15, 1930, in Provident City, Wharton County, Texas, to Ralph Lawrence and Edith Fisher Coleman. She was a graduate of El Campo High School and Southwestern Business University in Houston. On February 14, 1959, she married Delmond Max Ziese. Mrs. Ziese began her retirement after 39 years in the Exxon payroll department. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, laughing and having a good time together, along with running the roads seeing the sights. She attended First Baptist Church, Spring Branch, Houston, where she volunteered in the church office and served on several committees. She carpooled the elderly and worked the food shelter. Mrs. Ziese loved to travel and was able to visit many places. Finding her at home was rare. In late 2001, after a life-changing experience, she moved to Brenham. She attended First Baptist Church, Brenham, and although it was difficult for her to get out because of physical problems resulting from a stroke, she enjoyed meeting and visiting with the ladies in her Sunday school class. Her last year at Gazebo Terrace was a tough one. She spent her days playing bingo, watching cooking shows and eating milk duds, which everyone at Gazebo knows was her favorite candy. Her sense of humor, although candid at times, kept her going. She loved to crack jokes and make people laugh and was always ready to go out for a good plate of Mexican food. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Shonda Ziese of Brenham; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and James Wehmeyer of Brenham; and three grandchildren, Ryan Scott Wehmeyer, Cameron Lane Wehmeyer and Austin Ried Wehmeyer. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Rev. Stephen Ponder officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Pallbearers will be Delroy Ziese Jr., Ryan Wehmeyer, Cameron Wehmeyer, Austin Wehmeyer and Lenert Earl Wehmeyer. Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.
