Gerdine O'Neal

Gerdine Joyce O''Neal, 83, widow of William Delbert O''Neal, passed away February 26, 2016 in Bryan.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Reverend David Shows will officiate. Visitation will be prior to the service at Prairie Lea Cemetery, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Gerdine O''Neal was born December 12, 1932 in Brenham to Ben and Dora Reichers Wieghat. She was a 1952 graduate of Brenham High School, and loved her job as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. On Dec. 24, 1953, she married William Delbert O''Neal at the First United Methodist Church of Brenham.

Square dancing and listening to country and western music were favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed taking care of her beloved pets, as well as working in her yard.

Survivors include her sisters, Joydell Janner of College Station, Doris Pace, of Brenham; Shirley Shows and husband David of Rosenberg; brother, Leroy Wieghat, and sister-in-law, Judy Wieghat, both of Van Alstyne. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Gerdine was predeceased by her husband, parents, brother, Floyd Wieghat, and brothers-in-law Eugene Janner and Marlin Pace.
