Gertrude Kramer

Gertrude Gladys (Schwartz) Kramer, 94, passed away December 26, 2015 at Kruse Memorial Village in Brenham.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wedesday, December 30, 2015 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Pastor Jill Vivroux officiating. Burial will take place in the Hempstead City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Mrs. Kramer was born Sept. 16, 1921 in Crawford, Texas to Fred Sr. and Rosa Goeke Schwartz. She was baptized in Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn on November 21, 1921 and confirmed May 23, 1937. On May 17, 1942, she married Otto Kramer, who preceded her in death in 1992.

Gertrude took loving care of her family as a homemaker. She loved to cook, and work in her yard. A talented seamstress, she sewed for her friends and neighbors. Spending time with her family brought her the greatest pleasure.

Survivors include her daughter, Peggy McDonald of Brenham; granddaughter, Tracy Bartlett and husband John; great-grandchildren: Blaine Kramer Bartlett; brother and sister-in-law Fred and JoAnn Schwartz of Brenham; sisters Pearl Gaskamp and Ann Gaskamp and husband Ray, all of Washington. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Otto.

Serving as pallbearers are Greg Gaskamp, Jeff Schwartz, Ryan Gaskamp, James Richter, Teddy Abrams, Jr., and Matt Arthur.

Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn. The family would also like to extend special thanks to the staff at Kruse Memorial Village for caring for Gertrude for the past five years.
