Gilbert Buck

Gilbert Buck, 77, of Burton, died May 7, 2013 at his residence. A private graveside service will be held at a later date, and a public memorial gathering is scheduled for June with time and venue to be announced later. Mr. Buck was born January 26, 1936 in Burton to Christian Wilhelm and Minnie Hopmann Buck. Baptized April 26, 1936 in St. John''s United Church of Christ in Burton, he was confirmed April 10, 1949 in the same church. After attending Burton High School, he attended Blinn College and the University of Houston. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard with the 49th Armor Division from 1954 until 1961. Gilbert was retired from the Houston Battery Co. Survivors include a son, Christian Buck of Houston, daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Rich Nelson of Burton; grandchildren Richard C. and Jonathan Nelson; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Elsworth Tonn of Houston; the mother of his children, Geraldine Buck; niece, Melissa Tonn and nephew Kelton Tonn. He was preceded in death by his parents. Special thank yous to his housekeeper and sitter, Bonnie Burns, and her daughter, Dabbie Harris, Texas Home Health, and Hospice Brazos Valley.
