Gilbert Gaskamp

Gilbert Gaskamp, 89 of Brenham, husband of Helen Gaskamp, passed away at Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility in Bryan, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 10:00am at St. John’s Church of Prairie Hill with the Reverend Kyle Merkle officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2018, 6:00-8:00 at Memorial Oaks Chapel 1306 W. Main St. Brenham, Texas.

Gilbert married Helen Lange of Brenham December 20, 1953. Together they enjoyed playing dominoes, cards, and most of all fishing at the coast. Gilbert worked in production at Sealy Mattress for 50 plus years until he retired. He shared his joy in playing cards and fishing with his grandchildren and later in life enjoyed time with his great grandchildren and Sunday night barbeques.

Gilbert is survived by his wife of 60 plus years; daughter Gayle (Lynn) Kunkel and husband Randy; son Randy Gaskamp all of Brenham. Brother Wilfred Gaskamp of Brenham, grandchildren Kaci Kunkel of Weatherford, Rheagan Mulder, DC and husband Chase of Brenham, Kolin Kunkel and wife Amy of Katy, Gavin Gaskamp and wife Kristin of Brenham; great grandchildren Kourtney, Klaire, and Kase Kunkel of Katy and Hennessey Gaskamp of Brenham. Brother-in-law Floyd Lange of Cuero and sister-in-law Doris Haarmeyer and Husband Franklin of Brenham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Brother Jacob Gaskamp, sister Doris Ebers, stepmother Lillie Gaskamp, stepsister Florence Ebers, daughter-in-law Tina Gaskamp, sister-in-law Jackie Lange and mother-in-law Minnie Lange and father-in-law Willie Lange.

Serving as pallbearers are Kolin Kunkel, Gavin Gaskamp, Chase Mulder, Kevin Lange, Patrick Lange and Caden Lange.
