Gilbert Lee Schultz, 85, passed away October 11, 2014 at Brenham Nursing and Rehab in Brenham. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, October 17, 2014 at Industry United Methodist Church, with Rev. Leo Carrasco officiating, with burial to follow in the Industry United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Gilbert Lee Schultz was born Aug. 29, 1929 in Welcome to Thomas and Tillie Linke Schultz. He was baptized as an infant at the Welcome Lutheran Church, and later confirmed in Burton. On March 3, 1951 he was married to Hortense Z. "Betty" Ziesemer at Welcome Lutheran Church. Mr. Schultz served in the U. S. Army. Employed for 40 years by Central Freight Co. as a truck driver, Gilbert was awarded numerous awards for 35 years of safe driving with no accidents. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Thomas C. and Sheryl Schultz of Industry, and Rodney and Linda Schultz of Brenham; grandchildren: Tammy and James Johnson, Thomas C. T.J. Schultz, Jr., Bryan Cotton, and Amanda and Jim Weaver; great-grandchildren: Ryan Johnson and Reese Johnson; sisters-in-law Esther Schultz and Viola Weiss, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hortense; parents; brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Odell Schultz, and brothers, Walldon Schultz and Melvin Schultz. Serving as pallbearers are Delphine Schultz, Earl Roemer, Ronnie Schultz, James Grimm, Wallace Johnson, T. J. Schultz, Bryan Cotton, James Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Jim Weaver, and Billy Wayne Ziesemer. Memorials may be directed to Industry Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements for Gilbert Lee Schultz are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
