Glady Krinke

Mr. Glady Earl Krinke, 76, of Brenham, died Friday October 5, 2007 in Brenham. Mr. Krinke was born February 3, 1931 in Shelby, Texas to Willie and Hedwig Hattie Pontruff Krinke. He was baptized April 14, 1931 at Welcome Lutheran Church, and confirmed April 14, 1946, also in Welcome Lutheran Church. Glady attended County Line School, was a graduate of Blinn College, and attended Sam Houston State University. On June 15, 1958, he married Gertrude Wegner in Zion Lutheran Church in Brenham. He worked for 32 years at Maddox Furniture Manufacturing Co., and later at Leslie s Upholstery in Brenham. A lifelong musician, Glady began his musical career with the Wesley Wonders. Shortly thereafter, he and several friends formed the Brenham Playboys and they were heard live, each Saturday afternoon on KWHI. From 1953-1955, Glady served his country during the Korean Conflict, stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. Following his time in the service, Glady returned home to work and to his love of music, forming the Westernaires. They spent many weekends playing at area weddings, anniversaries, and parties. His enjoyment of guitar playing extended in later years to providing music at various rest homes in Brenham with the Good Old Boys group. Glady enjoyed spending time at his farm with his cattle, fishing, reading, traveling, discussing American history and watching sports programs. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, a member of the Zion Singers, The Gavel Club, and was a former commander of the American Legion Post No. 48. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Krinke; daughters Beth Rothermel and husband Gary, and Kristy Pieper and husband Neal, all of Brenham; four grandchildren, Rachel Rothermel, Sarah Rothermel, Madalyn Pieper, and Ella Pieper; brother and sister-in-law, Weldon and Marjorie Krinke of Brenham, sister and brother-in-law Delores and Edwin Kuehn of Industry; sister-in-law, Anna Voelkel; brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and LaVerna Wegner, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Hedwig Hattie Krinke, and a brother-in-law, Norfleet Voelkel. Funeral services for Glady Earl Krinke will be held Tuesday, October 9 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, with Pastor David Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be held Monday, October 8 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Edwin Weiss, J. F. Naumann, Morris Bubba Brewton, Ervin Viertel, Ricky Weiss, Philip Procell, Lonnie Lueck, and Richard Hanath. Honorary pallbearers are his nephews and nieces, the Zion Lutheran Church Worship Team, and Mr. Leslie Eben. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund, or to Hospice Brazos Valley., 302 East Blue Bell Road, Brenham, Tx. 77833. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
