Gladyola Jeske

Gladyola Louise Linnstaedter Jeske, 89, widow of Glenn L. Jeske, died June 8, 2010 in Trinity Care Center. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. Pastor Virgil Pecht will officiate. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Gladyola was born September 20, 1920 in Brenham, Washington County to Herbert W. and Henrietta Goller Linnstaedter. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith on June 5, 1921 by Pastors A. E. Sagebiel and Arthur Hartmann in St. Paul½s Evangelical Lutheran Church and confirmed April 14, 1935 in the same church. Mrs. Jeske attended Washington County schools, Brenham High School, Blinn College, and the University of Houston. She was a teacher in the Washington County schools for many years. Her husband, Glenn, preceded her in death June 8, 1987. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, and the ELCA. Gladyola was active in school and church organizations for many years. She served as President of the VFW for three terms, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Judy Jeske of Brenham, and Glenn Wayne Jeske of Rosebud; grandchildren: Wayne Jeske and wife Michele and Becky Moore and husband Rodger; great-grandchildren: Bryce Moore, Peyton Lara, Michael Jeske, Jonathan Jeske, and Sarah Jeske; brother-in-law and sister-in-law John W. and Mildred Spreen of Brenham; sisters-in-law Ruth Thompson and Susan Linnstaedter, both of Houston, as well as nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, Vernon and Herbert Linnstaedter, and brother-in-law ½Buddy½ Jeske. Serving as pallbearers are Wayne Jeske, Ricky Gaskamp, Bryce Moore, Rodger Moore, James Prazak and Stanley Sommer. Honorary pallbearers are A. G. Holtkamp, Herbert Klatte, W. H. Vesper, Charles Trampler, and the ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, and St. John Women of the ELCA. Memorials may be directed to St. John½s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, Hospice Brazos Valley, or a favorite charity.
