Gladys Herr

Gladys Anna Herr, 83, passed away July 5, 2017 in Brenham.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome, with Pastor John Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Gladys Herr was born March 9, 1934 in Fayette County to Joe and Minnie Mascheck Schley. On March 9, 1952, she was married to Wilbert Herr in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome. Mrs. Herr was employed as a cook at area restaurants, including Pinkie’s in Industry, and Sullivan’s in Bellville. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome.

Survivors include her sons Gary Herr and wife Laura, and Larry Herr, all of Bleiblerville; grandchildren: Nicholas Herr, Dawn Marie Herr, Leigh Ann Herr, Nancy Lynn Herr, all of Bleiblerville; niece, Catherine Marie Byrd of Wahalla; sister-in-law, Emma Schley of Warrenton. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilbert Herr in 2008, her parents; daughter-in-law, Brenda Herr; brother Clemons Schley; sister and brother-in-law, Adela and John Skalitsky; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Edgar and Ora Nell Herr.

Serving as pallbearers are Kenneth Grebe, Gilbert Goeke, Allen Kuehn, Emil Schley, John Spiess, Bruce Hohlt, and John Haarmeyer. Honorary pallbearers are Clarence Schley and Marvin Schley.

Memorials may be directed to the Welcome Lutheran Church Building Fund.
