Gladys May Earline Koerth, 76, of Burton, died Sept. 5, 2006, in The Methodist Hospital in Houston. Gladys was born May 18, 1930, in Burton, to Adolph G. and Ella Ida Hertel Boehnemann. She was baptized June 29, 1930, in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine and was confirmed Dec. 5, 1943, in the same church. She was a graduate of Burton High School and was the valedictorian of her class. On Nov. 20, 1955, she was married to Delton Koerth in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and serving on the Memorial Committee. She also served on the Washington County Fair quilt committee. Gladys will be remembered as a loving and caring individual, not knowing a stranger. Her husband of over 50 years, Delton, was the love of her life. Together they were partners in the Ka-Da-Jo Holstein Farm, winning the Distinguished Dairy Farm award. In recent years they have owned and managed a beef cattle operation with Gladys enjoying caring for the cattle daily and enjoying trips to local cattle auctions. She also enjoyed working in her garden and canning. Her family meant the world to her. Gladys was a wonderful mother and a loving grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Her children and grandchildren always looked forward to Sunday suppers at Nana and Papa s house. Gladys enjoyed watching her grandchildren play baseball and softball. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her husband, Delton Koerth of Burton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Karla and Joe Antkowiak of Burton, Dayna and Matt Bathe of College Station and Jonna and Russell Klump of Burton; 5 grandchildren, Morgan Bathe, Will Bathe, Jensen Antkowiak, Kylie Antkowiak and Alexis Antkowiak; a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and John Will Fuchs of Burton; sisters-in-law, Florence Boehnemann of Brenham and Daulene Hopmann and husband Edward; brothers-in-law, Allan Koerth and wife Betty, Billy Dean Koerth and special friend Teresa Bilski and Maurice Petersen and wife Nancy; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edward and Bertha Koerth; brother, Delphine Boehnemann; sister-in-law, Betty Jo Petersen; and nephew Larry Boehnemann. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8 in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine with Pastor Pamela Werrell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Antkowiak, Matt Bathe, Russell Klump, Will Bathe, Wayne Fuchs and Gerald Fuchs. All friends of the family will be considered honorary pallbearers. The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Trinity Medical Center and The Methodist Hospital. Special thanks is also given to Pastor Pam and all those who visited, sent cards and kept Gladys in their thoughts and prayers. Memorials may be given to Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine.
