Gladys Niemeyer, 93, of Brenham, widow of Clarence Niemeyer, died January 23, 2014, at Scott & White Hospital in Brenham. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill with Pastor David Hansen officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, January 24, 2014, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Niemeyer was born May 8, 1920, to William and Lydia Koester Buddenberg, in New Wehdem community. She was baptized on July 4, 1920 at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem by Pastor H. Poehlmann. On April 14, 1935, she was confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church by Pastor Utesch. On May 1, 1966, she was married to Clarence Niemeyer at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem by Pastor Rother. Mrs. Niemeyer was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. She loved to quilt. She enjoyed playing games with her great-nieces and great-nephews and loved to cook and bake. Survivors include special nephew and niece, Gary and Benita Schramme of Brenham; niece, Becky Luedke and husband Rev. Dr. Alvin Luedke; nephews, Larry Grebe, Michael Niemeyer and Gary Niemeyer; sister, Louise Schramme; and brother-in-law, Milford Niemeyer and wife Lucille. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother-in-law Charles Schramme Jr., brother-in-law Floyd Grebe, and sister-in-law Leona Grebe. Pallbearers are Gary Schramme, Christopher Schramme, Tomas Schramme, William Schramme, and Garrett Schramme. Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.
