Gladys Weiss

Gladys Marie Stoll Meier Weiss, 92, passed away November 19, 2015 at Brenham Nursing and Rehab in Brenham. Born Sept. 1, 1923 in Brenham to Eugene H. and Anita Fehler Stoll, Gladys was baptized Dec. 2, 1923 by Rev. Arthur Hartmann, and confirmed April 10, 1938, also by Rev. Hartmann. A lifelong member of St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church, she was a 1941 graduate of Brenham High School, and later attended Blinn College. On June 28, 1952, Gladys married Edwin Otto Meier, who passed away October 2, 1975. Three sons were born to this union: Robert, Thomas, and David. Gladys became a homemaker, and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and watching sports with her sons. On Dec. 20, 1985, she married Melvin Edwin Weiss, who died March 21, 1995. In her younger days, Mrs. Weiss worked at the Washington Co. Courthouse in the tax office Gladys loved dancing and spending time with her grandchildren, taking them to and from school. She made lunch once a week for the whole family. Mrs. Weiss was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, and one brother and sister-in-law, Eugene Sonny and Virginia Stoll; brothers and sisters-in-law: Elise Urban, Evelyn Meier, Lionel Meier, Herbert and Edna Weiss, Alfred and Eleanor Weiss, Clara Strangmeyer, and Norma Borchgardt. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law: Robert Butch and Kathy Richter Meier, Thomas Tommy and Lois Lorenz Meier, and David and Holly Fairlie Meier, all of Brenham; grandchildren: Michael Meier, Brian and wife Kasey Carr Meier, Dustin and wife Lynsy Marek Meier, Loni Marie Meier, Travis and wife Marie Campbell Meier, Scott Meier and friend, Virginia Braly, Matthew Meier, and Bethany Diane Meier; great-grandchildren: Lindsey Meier, Madyson Meier, Zackry Meier, Haylee Meier, Nolan Meier, Rose Meier, and Eyan Kate Meier. Kamryn Meier is due to join the family in November. Also surviving is a brother, Fred Stoll of San Antonio, as well as several nephews, nieces, and a special friend, Grover Cleveland Fiddell. Funeral services for Gladys Marie Weiss are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Pastor Phil Fenton officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Saturday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons Michael Meier, Brian Meier, Dustin Meier, Travis Meier, Scott Meier, and Matthew Meier. Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters Loni Marie Meier, and Bethany Diane Meier. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley.
