Glenda Taylor Sommerfield, 52, wife of James A. Sommerfield, died May 29, 2014. Glenda Sommerfield was born Dec. 30, 1961 in Cypress, Texas. She was employed as a production worker at Blue Bell Creameries. Survivors include her husband, James Sommerfield of Brenham; mother, Joyce Taylor of Spring Branch; son and daughter-in-law Jordan Reese and Ashley Ann Sommerfield of Ft. Polk, LA; daughter, Joy Sommerfield of Sulphur, LA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jimmie and Lorna Sommerfield of Brenham; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sylvia Sommerfield and Keith Ellender, both of Sulphur, LA; niece Jessica Baca and husband Nate; sister and brother-in-law Dianna and Ronnie King. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Greenley E. Manuel, Javan W. Sommerfield, and Bailey H. Sommerfield, all of Ft. Polk, LA. Special friends who survive are Charise Roswold, Ryan Stanley, James and Chelsea Hagler and family, David and Courtney Dudenhoeffer and family, Vicki Hudgins, Karen Zalar, and James and Janet Zapalac. Glenda was preceded in death by her grandmother, "Cookie" Laura Kemp; step-grandfather, Sam Kemp; aunt, Beverly Boatcallie and mother-in-law Marie Sommerfield. Memorials may be directed to the S.I.R.E. Horse Therapy and Habitat for Horses in Hitchcock, Texas. Arrangements for Glenda Taylor Sommerfield are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham, where a Memory Book is available for those who wish to memorialize Glenda.
